Starting Out

Introducing my first guest blogger…

Hello. How do you do. I’m not sure if you can tell, but I’m new around here. Before coming here I spent 9 months at this great place called The Womb – all you can eat and very cosy. It was a great starter home, but by the time I left, I had rather run out of space. So I made the journey here, to my new home. I have to say, it’s not a journey I’d like to make again. It took over 16 hours and was SO cramped. It all got a bit scary towards the end as well. But eventually I made it and now here I am.

I think I’m gradually sussing this new place, but it took a little while. To start with everything seemed so big and scary. So many sounds and colours. It was cold too. On the plus side, my landlady from before is here and seems to be available to me 24/7. Eating is much more complicated here and involves my mouth – weird! It took some getting used to, but at least the landlady provides the food too.

After a few days in temporary accommodation I have at last made it to my permanent home. I’m living with my landlady (she seems to be called Mummy), and some other hanger on, called Daddy. He’s not so bad when you get to know him and isn’t around much during the day, so I pretty much get Mummy to myself.

Sleep is very complicated here. At first I wanted to sleep as and when I felt like it, which was fine. But now when it gets dark Mummy seems to think I should sleep all the time. I was not on board with that at all and was quite good at making that clear. We used to sit up all night and I ate while she watched lights shine on a little screen. She called it Netflix.

Eventually it seemed easiest to move to the local way of doing things. Mummy thinks it’s appropriate for me to sleep a bit during the day as well but I prefer not to do that in case I MISS OUT. There are so many fascinating things to see and do here. I’ve been working hard on using my arms and legs so that I can make the most of everything. I can now traverse my house at some speed and race around looking at all the interesting things. Mummy says my favourite things are wires and screens, and that I’m a pest. I’m pretty sure she got the wrong word and meant to say that I’m the best.

After about 6 months here I gained access to a lovely restaurant called The High Chair. The food there is very varied, but quite hard to eat. They serve this wonderful delicacy called yoghurt, and delicious sweet treats called fruit. Sometimes I eat at other similar establishments but it’s not really worth it as Mummy complains so much about the mess. I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Our clothes seem to be self-cleaning anyway.

Well, I’d better get going. I’m off to my favourite place ever. It’s a bit of a trek from home but it’s called The Park and there are swings. I love swings. I’ll try to write again soon. Bye for now. Xxx
