Because you’re worth it

This summer, my husband and I took our little boy on holiday to New Wine. For those that haven’t heard of it, New Wine is a Christian festival of sorts – think camping, epic worship, thought provoking seminars, lots of prayer and all while spending the week with some wonderful people. We had an absolute blast, and have already booked to go again.

New Wine provided me with a real opportunity to get some much needed me time and God time. Continue reading “Because you’re worth it”

Camping Out

Hi there.  How are you all doing?  I’ve just got back from a week away (a “holiday”) so thought I’d tell you a bit about it.  Last week I took Mummy and Daddy away for some R&R (which stands for Rest and Relaxation, and means you get less sleep and more basic facilities).  We went camping, well, caravanning, at New Wine, in a place called Shepton Mallet.  They seemed to have a good time, and I absolutely loved it.

Me Time

“Put your own oxygen mask on before helping others.”  It’s a phrase we’ll all have heard when listening to the safety briefing on a plane.  But for some it can also describe their mantra for life.  And it’s not without merit.  Another way to put it might be “first get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye”.  That’s Matthew 7:5, and although I don’t think it is necessarily quite the point Jesus was getting at, the principle does sort of stand – it’s only when we are OK ourselves that we are in a position to help others.  As Ed Sheeran put it, “So before I save someone else, I’ve got to save myself”.  We have to get our own houses in order first; you can’t pour from an empty cup; etc, etc.

Another popular mantra for life is “if you’re happy, I’m happy.”  Continue reading “Me Time”
